History and Vision
Tainan Model United Nations (TainanMUN) began in the spring of 2010 as a simple idea with a vision to provide a forum for interaction and collaboration amongst high school students in Taiwan to work towards forming solutions to addressing global issues. The first TainanMUN was incredibly successful and has allowed this forum to expand over the years into one of the largest MUN conferences in Southern Taiwan. In providing a platform for students to discuss foreign affairs in a context that closely parallels the real world, young but mature minds learn vital skills in research, writing, speaking, negotiation and conflict resolution when they step into the role of delegates of certain countries or organizations. The nuclear objectives of TainanMUN are to provide students of the region and the world a depth of knowledge on global questions and an understanding of the causes of international conflict with an eye to allowing students to form diplomatic perspectives and broaden their horizons.
